Christmas Cards

This Christmas I decided to buy mostly Gift Cards, Since Lugging large presents home is a pain and finding the perfect Abercrombie sweater for my sister never seems to work out. When buying the gift cards this year I was pretty disappointed with the card envelopes they put the cards in, S0 I took matters into my own hands and made these gift card envelope's each with it's own color. I've used this structure before on a school project but I really liked the unwrapping feeling you get when opening it, next year Id like to make boxes with the matching tucking flaps.

Dad AT&T Reach Out and Touch Someone Commercial

Along with Wedding's my dad also sings Jingles for commercials. This commercial aired during the 1987 Grammy's (Which is why it's ridiculously long)

Pal Joey Music Video

Most of you who are reading this probably know that my dad is a Wedding Singer and use to be in a 80's rock band (would I be making that up?) This aired in 1983 and The video is actually 1 of 2, In the second Video his record label wanted him to be a little less of a pretty boy and a little more bad ass, so he rocks a leather jacket with a popped collar and cigarette. I like this version better I hope you like it too.

São Paulo 6emeia Drainhole art

As some of you may or may not know in September of last year São Paulo, Brazil passed a law coined the "Clean City laws" banning advertisements or "visual pollution" as they call it. This includes all outdoor advertising from ad's on taxi's to store fronts. An estimated 13,000 billboards had to be removed. I have mixed feelings about this since I am a Graphic Designer but do agree with the removal of some of the excessive Billboards being used today. I Couldn't Imagine paying $4500 a month for an apartment in times square and having to look through a Calvin Klein models package (I'm sure some of you might not mind)
Either way the whole thing is interesting and surprising that it exists.

But.... what I seemed to enjoy more when reading about this was the street art that has emerged to bring some kind of art or "visual pollution" back to the streets. A few young artists who post under the Fotolog name 6emeia have been beautifying the city’s storm sewer openings with cleaver and fun cartoony paintings. Take that!

BOMBIN' MAGAZINE MAY '08

About 3 months ago I met the guys of Bombin' Magazine through a mutual friend and was asked to do some layout design for the next issue. I had fun pulling elements from the story to make the article look interesting. I really tried my hardest to avoid cliches or spoon feeding the reader with pictures that are obvious.

Feminism 101

Article on Feminism, I thought it be fun to make it look as girlie as possible and look like a Gossip magazine.

Spiritual America Movie

So since I've graduated F.I.T I have tried to do as much as I possibly can to get my work out of the classroom and into the real world. My roommate Marc goes to the New York Film Academy and approached me to do some business cards for two of the locations in the film and I knew It would be a fun experience, possible resume booster and of course confidence booster. I have to admit it is quite exciting to see your work held by real actors, shot with ridiculously expensive film, under perfect lighting situations and on a big screen.

Apt 201 The Board Game

Anyone that knows me knows that I live with 4 other guys in a Manhattan apt. Though we do a good job of staying out of each others way and keeping the place clean sometimes it can get crazy. When Explaining the living situation in the apartment to other people I never know what to say. Sooo I decided to make a board game.
The Board represents two month's in the apartment and it isn't how fast the month's go by or how quick you get to the end but how much money is in your wallet when you cross the finish.
Players alternate turns and roll 1 Die.

Arizona All City NRG Energy Drink

I saw these cans the other day at my local deli and They demanded my attention when walking the isle. On shelf they just stand out, and I guess You'd have to be living under a rock to not know that the whole graffiti craze has exploded so I guess I should have seen this coming, but whats next children's cereal?

I also thought it was kind of daring of Arizona known for packaging design with little going on, simple color and graphics to put this out. Then I went to the website and they are really pushing the street/health look which is the first time Ive seen a company especially this big try and tie those two things together. They're also quite proud to be from Brooklyn, I wonder if they've changed their demographic, maybe just with this sub brand.

I also really like the fact that there aren't different flavors just different designs and they push the collectibility of the cans. I just Hope this doesn't catch on though or soon illustrators and fine artists will be designing packaging and we'll all be out of jobs....psshhh

Either way they got me to buy it and to be honest it tastes pretty bad and it kinda gave me a headache, surprise surprise 1000 mg Taurine 150 mg caffeine 100 mg Ginseng 100mg Guarana!!! Could be the future of the MLB! sorry bad joke.
