Up in Gulls

*This piece is about 95% finished I want to do something with the left side of the face and some cleaning up on some spots.

When I started to transfer this piece onto poster board I made a last minute decision onto not do posters and move onto canvas. I realized shortly that I was putting to much time on these projects to have them be on cheap paper. I also went large going from 22" x 28" to 30"x40". I have some ideas of the what the next one will be but am going to give my eyes some rest. The black and white dots strained my eyes a lot and had to do about 95% of this project with one eye close and alternating eyes every minute or so, not so fun.

Wall-E!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love anything made by Pixar and Wall-E was no exception. Wall-E is definitely my favorite Pixar movie they have done taking over my number 1 spot from Finding Nemo. I dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, so see it and E-mail me so we can discuss! The Wall-E toy should be out in September and sold at Target for around $200.This is all I want for Christmas and it's the closest thing to having your very own Wall-E. It would be pretty cool if it vacuumed or could be used as a garbage can but still think it is the coolest toy I have seen in a while. I have a feeling this will be the Tickle Me Elmo / Furby for this years Christmas, hopefully I can get my hands on one...Thoughts?

Ray Caesar show at Jonathan Levine

So lately I have been on a Gallery attending binge. Since receiving my Subscription to Juxtapoz I have been exposed to a lot more artists from different backgrounds then I am use to getting into. Many graffiti artists, fine artists, toy designers who are producing some awesome work and having great gallery shows that I knew little about before. Last Months had a great Interview on Ray Caesar with an interesting background in medical manual design working in a hospital. Ray has been better known for his interesting characters and detail with the use of the computer program Maya. Ray explained in The Interview a little bit on how Maya works and how each object and pattern needs a wire frame "skeleton" that allows you to rotate and add very realistic shadows and highlights, I take his word for it that it is 10x harder then Photoshop or any other program I know. The opening at the Jonathan Levine Gallery (http://jonathanlevinegallery.com) seemed to be a success filled with a mix of long time fans and people like me who recently discovered him and who were surprised to see  how large and how detailed his work was.

*Oh also if you do happen to attend the show make sure you go to the other side of the gallery and check out the Octopus Chandeliers by Adam Wallcavage, they are really cool to see in person and the look amazing in the bright floral wallpaper they are displayed in, I just hope Urban Outfitters doesn't steal the idea and mass produce them for $70, though if that happened I probably would have to get one.

Painting Pixels

Hey so I guess I have been inspired by the Fish & Keyes show and started to doodle again, I'm trying to be a bit more productive with my time. I used part of the Me Two! Wallpaper shown below.

The Piece is the Bottom half of my face with rain clouds on top. It's all hand done with Oil Paint.
This will be the first of a series of halftone hand-drawn posters I am going to do. I am not 100% happy with how the rain looks but I am hoping to get better and more detailed as I go on.

My Photo's Don't do the pieces Justice

So I went to the opening of the Jeremy Fish & Josh Keyes show last Saturday at the Joshua Liner gallery (http://joshualinergallery.com) and was blown away! By far the best show i've seen in a while, Jeremy's sculptures and frames are ridiculously detailed and the seasons prints look really good. Josh Keyes stuff has to be seen in person, I cant get over how clean and realistic his work is and how dead on his shadows are. Jeremy was even cool enough to talk for a bit and sign my book. If you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and check it out.

*Here are some pictures of the opening on Juxtapoz, If you are a friend of mine you may recognize a couple of the people pictured:

Where I Do What I Do.

My Boy Herm sent me a Link to a site called Where We Do What We Do (http://wherewedowhatwedo.com) Where people show off where they work and I'm sure it's where most of these people spend a majority of their day. At first when looking through It seemed to be just a place where people take pictures and show of their new Aluminum 24" Imacs...(Guilty) which for the most part, true but you do get to see into some really cool Design and Photography Studios, Freelance Illustrator home offices and many other cool professional Work Spaces,

Oh and If you just happen to want to vote for my Beautiful Aluminum 24' Imac just Click here :)
